MG3 Press Pack

MG Motor UK is delighted to introduce MG3; the latest addition to the iconic British brand's rapidly evolving product range. The first thing to notice about MG3 is its dynamic new front-end. The eye-catching “star-rider” grille perfectly frames the brand's famous octagonal logo, with expressive headlights and LED daylight running lights completing the look. MG3 is now aligned with the MG-family appearance, as seen on the MG ZS compact-SUV and the X-motion concept car. MG3 also proudly sports much bigger MG badges front and rear, and a refreshed rear treatment with electronic tailgate switch. In addition, MG Motor UK is backing MG3 with a 7-year/80,000 mile warranty, all combining to create a brilliant value-for-money package.

There are two different versions offered in the MG3 line-up; the entry level "Excite" and the "Exclusive Nav" at the pinnacle of the range. The whole MG3 range comes packed with a host of exciting technology. All versions come with Bluetooth telephone and audio streaming and AUX/USB as standard, while Excite and Exclusive Nav boast an 8” colour touchscreen with Apple CarPlayTM, DAB radio and steering wheel audio controls. The Exclusive Nav version adds satellite navigation and a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, making it an exceptional value-for-money package.

Perhaps most striking of all, MG Motor UK has now introduced a full 7-year manufacturer's warranty across all versions of MG3. This demonstrates MG's confidence in the build quality and reliability of MG3, highlighting to customers that MG is by their side from day one. MG3's warranty is transferable to new owners and lasts for 7 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes soonest.

While customisable features, such as picking your own colour wing mirrors or adding roof graphics, make the MG3 a stylish buy, engineering choices such as its sporty chassis and spacious cabin make it a very competitive choice in the Supermini segment.

Since its initial launch back in 2013, MG3 has enjoyed a reputation for being fun and dynamic to drive. When an updated version of the MG3 was launched with Stop-Start technology in 2015, engineers worked hard to ensure that the drive was further improved. The addition of a new, state-of-the-art engine management system also ensures that the car meets Euro 6D emissions regulations.

Recognising that the car would appeal to new drivers thanks to its low 7E/8E insurance group grading, MG's designers worked hard to ensure ample safety features were included. Each model in the line up has twin front, side and curtain airbags, electronic stability control, corner brake control, hill hold control and traction control as standard.

MacPherson struts remain at the front while torsion beams support the rear, aided by a spring which helps deliver high frequency dampening. All these features have been seamlessly integrated with the hydraulic power assisted steering (HPAS) system, giving the car an agile ride quality.

MG3 is powered by a DOHC VTI-TECH 4-cylinder normally-aspirated engine. Paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the car reaches 0 – 60 miles per hour in 10.4 seconds, utilising the car's 137Nm of torque.

Starting from just £12,995 for the entry level Excite, the stylish MG3 offers a considerable benefit over its rivals in both purchase and running costs.

MG3...at a glance

Inspired by British fashion

Designed to make a bold statement, the MG3 is targeted at style-conscious buyers seeking something different from the rest of the market, offering a wealth of personalisation options.

For more than 90 years, MG has been famous on the world stage for building distinctive, British, small, fun cars at a remarkably affordable price. MG3 is a modern MG, bringing style and fun to a new generation and continues the great tradition of this iconic brand. MG3 also offers customer‟s peace of mind thanks to the MG backed 7- year/80,000 mile warranty.

The first-generation MG3 provided over a million design variations, allowing customers to really make their stamp on the car. Championed by the colour and trim team at MG's Longbridge-based Design Studio, the car explored the future of customisation. To achieve the aim of engaging the British public, MG tapped into textile, graphic and colour trends in the fashion industry and brought these to bear in an automotive context. This theme of personalisation has been carried-over to MG3.

One of the key design features of MG3 is the dynamic new face of MG, which features an enlarged, full frame grille, inspired by the brand's famous octagonal logo and executed in a contemporary way. It allows for a much bigger MG badge to take centre stage and showcase the brand.

Equally distinctive is the side profile of the car where the body coloured side skirts lower the stance of the car and hint at a fun driving style which has been especially developed by MG's UK-based engineering team. Longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs also give MG3 a sporty stance. On Excite and Exclusive Nav versions the 16-inch diamond-cut wheels and larger side sills add a real touch of class. There are also neat style touches in the rear such as high-mounted tail lamps making MG3 a stylish car from every angle.

Surprisingly spacious on the inside

When it comes to the interior cabin of MG3, designers have gone to great trouble to make sure that the sporty styling doesn't reduce the car's practical spaciousness.

For MG3, the interior has been completely updated with a new dashboard and new steering wheel, moving the stylish Supermini in-line with the MG family design direction.

MG3 has one of the most spacious cabins in the Supermini class, with class-leading head and leg room for five people. The boot space is also impressive for a car in this category, with designers managing to optimise the space so that it has a staggering 285 litres of capacity.

The driving position of MG3 reinforces its sporting persona, putting the driver in the heart of the action while ensuring they remain comfortable enough to enjoy long distance journeys. With black and grey highlights, matching red stitching and graphic highlights, the interior is a continuation of the car's fashionable exterior.

MG3 is one of the most customisable cars in the Supermini category, further boosting this fantastic value package, allowing customers to express their individuality through affordable personalisation. There are four distinctive colours in the range offering customers great colour variation, including the eye-catching Hello Yellow, Arctic White, Black Pearl and Southwark Silver.

7-Year Warranty

Demonstrating its faith in the build quality and reliability of the new range of MG products, the brand has extended its 7-year/80,000-miles warranty to MG3. The new warranty really adds to MG3's value-for-money offering, making it one of the most attractive packages on the market. Fully-transferrable to any new owner, the highly-competitive package also guarantees genuine replacement MG parts for the full term.

The ultra-low insurance rating (7/8E), a 7-year warranty, great finance offers and high-levels of technology all combine to create a fantastic value-for-money package.

Testing to extremes

Putting MG3 through its paces

Having been tested for over one million hours around the globe, including extensive hot weather tests conducted in Seville, Spain, drivers can rest assured that MG3 will stand-up to all conditions.

During the Seville-based hot weather testing, MG3 was driven extensively in extreme city traffic conditions with temperatures reaching 43 degrees Celsius.

The stylish Supermini was also put through its paces at MIRA in the UK, ensuring the powertrain could perform under all the typical UK road conditions, from windy country lanes, to long straight motorway journeys.

MG3 has been fine tuned for UK roads from the out-set via the MG global design and engineering facility at Longbridge, Birmingham. In addition to this, MG3 has been put through its paces under the new WLTP emissions testing protocol. All this backed up by the 7-year warranty, reassuring drivers that MG has confidence in the stylish Supermini.
